Our
History
Victory United Pentecostal Church Of College Station was born from a vision
to see souls come to the kingdom of God and a faith that anything is possible
with God. We began our first service with 6 people on Pentecost Sunday of
2001; Church started at exactly 2pm with Brother & Sister Castleberry
and their children (Lacie, Ethan and Camille) dressed just as if they were
going to a “normal” church service. Lacie played the keyboard,
Sister Castleberry sang and Camille played the tambourine. Our first “saint”
was a nineteen year old college student; our second was an eight year old
girl. Undaunted by size or age, the meeting in their living room grew to the
point that within two months a new location was found in an office complex.
After one year in the office building, God opened the door for Victory Church
to move to a bigger building in a strip center located directly behind Wal-Mart.
From this location, with greater visibility and exposure Victory Church (remove
has) continued to grow. Remove the next sentence. We grew to about 20 in the
office building, and then we grew to 50 in the strip center. After that we
purchased land and built a “Church-in-a-Day” on Highway 30 South.
On March 18th at 7am about 300 men from all over Texas converged upon 13107
State Hwy 30 and by 3am of March 19th the building was complete. On March
20th we held our first service in that building with the Air Conditioning
systems running, water flowing and the beautiful sounds of praise and worship
emanating from the new sound system.
Now three years later, the vision hasn’t changed at all but with an
adjustment here and there the journey continues. A few of the many quotes
that you will hear from the pulpit and now from the pews is “If you
will do your best, God will do the rest”, “I believe God can do
anything” and “God is good, all the time”, just to name
a few. Every one of these statements are absolutely true. The children have
grown up (they are now 18, 17 and 12), after we built a new sanctuary we added
on to that six months later, a year later we added a new Education wing and
we now have plans to build another new sanctuary, converting all of our old
facilities into the “Education building”, there have been many
more great people added to the church and with each one as a missionary we
are getting closer to upgrading our “Vision“. As God blesses us
we will continue to give Him the glory. With College Station at a crossroads
to the world (Texas A&M is one of the largest Universities in North America)
with nearly 45000 students of which a good many are from outside the United
States we have the opportunity to reach into every culture from around the
world and with great plans for the future it is our desire to do just that.
Victory Church will be the greatest church in all of the Brazos Valley. We
intend to continue to feed the truth to a lost and dying world that is hungry
for more than this world can give them. We have had several wonderful people
help us get to this point. I want to say thank you to those first few people
that were willing to come to church in our living room; Cason Beckham, Erin
Vestel and the Draper Family. It is also our desire to express our thanks
to each of the district board members for their support of the CIAD program
and for Home Missions. With Rev. Danny Russo at the helm we have seen an unwavering
desire to reach the lost of our great state. Our thanks go out to the Home
Missions Department and for the vision that is so evident in all you do. My
family greatly appreciates the friendship and the fellowship of my friend
and neighboring Pastor E.W. Whitmire and his wife and our presbyter Pastor
Douglass Rashall. My wife and children have paid the highest price of all
of us, they have sacrificed in so many ways I do not have the space to write
it. Most of all I want to say that God is awesome, still faithful and true;
He will never fail you.
